Rise From Ashes webcomic by Clockwork7

So I was at the Stanley awards a little while back, and it was great to catch up with some fellow Aussie creators. It did drive home that it’s a small world down here – the comics world, I mean. It would be great to go to the US sometime and see a huge convention like San Diego, but right now that won’t be happening until I somehow come into a large fortune after a mysterious benevolent relative I’ve never met passes away and leaves it to me, along with a haunted mansion that I must spend a night in before I can claim my birthright. Does this mansion have an internet connection? Ha! Easy peasy. Huh, I don’t remember downloading those pictures of Slenderman to my desktop. What’s that sound? Why are the walls bleeding?

I promised to announce any hiatuses in advance, and that’s why there’s be a week-long break from updates in early January next year while I visit my folks in Melbourne. Since I’m Tasmanian, going to any location that is not within the borders of Tasmania involves a plane (or a boat, but bleearrgh, seasickness. Also, frequent attacks from ghost pirate ships, who needs that). I really loathe planes because I quite like gravity, and planes are the arch-rival of gravity. And I don’t like when my ears pop. And I can’t take a cat with me. That’s what they said last time, anyway, and I had to leave Astro in the Hobart airport lounge with a magazine and a bag of chips for four days until I got back.

Story-wise, we’re getting through the introductory bit of the tale, and moving into more serious territory shortly. Someone important is going to turn up soon. Yeahh! Things are happening! I can’t believe we’re still on chapter zero! Curse my need to establish background and mood!

Let your friends know about Rise From Ashes, as it will be a cautionary tale about treatment of the dead. Also, I want more pageviews. Click the social media icons to add my pretty art to your tumblr or twitter or facebook! It’s an instant talking point with those friends you never contact!

Studio Cramoisy

Studio Cramoisy was formed by Niko Geyer and Honoel A. Ibardolaza in 2007 in response to a gnawing need to bridge the narrowing gap of their unique working environment – Niko is based in Germany and Honoel in the Philippines. Before the online studio, both artists had worked independently on a variety of projects, from collectible card games to full-length graphic novels.

They joined forces with American Clay Gardner to round out their offerings with a bit of design, typographic flair, and really tiny icons.

In 2010, deciding that three continents wasn't enough, the studio invited Madeleine Rosca, the award-winning artist from Down Under and author of Hollow Fields.

Studio Cramoisy provides many theoretically useful services: cover illustrations, comic books & manga, children’s book style artwork, concept art production and all matters of graphic design. We would love to work with you!

Amy: If you don't mind my asking, what kind of computer and tablet do you use? I know you use Manga Studio for a lot of your artwork. My friend wants to become a professional artist and I'd like to give her an idea of what she might need.

Miss Rosca, I am a huge fan of yours and recently put you on my Watch List after months after being a scared little baby (in my opinion, I was acting like that :P). Hollow Fields was the manga that got me into writing more, and I love Rise from the Ashes! Actually, I have been a fan of Hollow Fields since I was in seventh grade and now I am a high school senior who still loves it.

I hope you have an amazing new year and keep up your always wonderful work!

Wow! I can't believe you have a DA!!! Hollow fields was the first manga I ever read back in my early teens, and I have the 3-in-1 book proudly displayed on my bookshelf. It's this series that got me into the manga/anime genre, and I'm thrilled to see you have other projects! I think your art is amazing, and I just want you to know that I'm a huge fan of hollow fields!

Hello Miss. Rosca. It's a pleasure to "meet" you. My name is Tracy & I'm horrid at basically all art unless its a base or a pony which is only semi decent ^^' I was wondering if you could/would draw a bone structure of how you draw? or a tutorial of some sort? I really love your style & have since I first came upon Hollow Fields 7 years ago when I was 11. *bows*

Hmm...I don't make bases or use them because I think it's better to learn poses from scratch. I keep meaning to do tutorials but never quite getting there because of time! I'll have to add it to the list of things to do.

True, I just started usin them a long time ago because I had no confidence that I could learn to draw. I rarely have any now but more than before. Sorry to hear. I hope someday you could because I'd love to learn your style c=
